Materials: 1/4 cup witch hazel
1/2 cup distilled water
3 drops benzoin oil
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup dried herbs and/or a few drops of your choice essential oils such as: Lavender flowers - crushed. Camphor herbs such as rosemary, lavender, sage. Citrus herbs such as orange or lemon peels or Spicy herbs such as cinnamon, cloves!
Instructions:
Combine ingredients in a glass jar. Cover and place in a dark fairly cool place. Shake the jar once or twice a day for 2 - 3 weeks. Strain out herbs through a colander and refrigerate!
Shaving Cream
Materials:
1/2 cup grated hard white soap (Castile is recommended)
2/3 cup boiling water
2 tb. melted coconut oil
3 tb. almond oil
1 tb. borax
Approx. 20 drops scent
Instructions:
Dissolve the soap in the water, pour into a blender. Add remaining
ingredients and whip until fluffy. Pour into shaving mug (or coffee mug) and let harden. Note: if using homemade soap, increase the amount of soap by 1/4 cup to 3/4 cup total!
Almond Oil Shaving Cream
Materials:
1/4 cup stearic acid powder
2 Tbs almond oil
1 cup hot water
1 tsp borax
2 Tbs grated soap
Instructions:
Melt the stearic acid and oil, using a double boiler, until the mixture is clear.
Mix the hot water, borax, and soap, and stir until the borax and soap are completely dissolved. Pour this mixture into a blender and blend for about a minute.
Slowly pour the stearic acid mixture into the blender, and blend until a smooth cream has formed.
Pour into a clean container and allow to cool completely. To use, soften your beard with warm water, then apply the cream. Always a use a clean, sharp razor to shave.
Soothing Aftershave
Materials:
1/2 cup witch hazel
2 Tbs vodka
2 Tbs dried chamomile flowers
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients and place in a jar. Let the mixture sit in a cool, dark place for 15 days. At the end of this time, strain the liquid through a funnel lined with a paper towel or a coffee filter. Discard the solids. Put the liquid in a clean bottle. Splash on your face after shaving.
